A Year Round Farmers’ Market

Open Saturdays 9am – 1pm

In its 38th season, the Truro Farmers’ Market is home to over 50 vendors every Saturday. Located in the historic fire hall building, the market is a one stop shop and vibrant gathering space in the heart of downtown Truro. The winter season features local storage produce and greens, fresh baked goods, specialty body products, handcrafted woodwork, decorative crafts, N.S. wine, beer, and spirits, meats, cheese, eggs, delicious foods to enjoy onsite or take home AND more!

  • January 13th, 20th & 27th – 9am – 1pm for fresh greens, storage vegetables, prepared foods, baking, warm winter gear, artisans & crafters.

The Market Hall is available for rental on non-market days.


What goes really well with butternut squash? Apple cider! This recipe combines the two to make a delicious winter dish. And you can pick up the squash, cider and onion from Casson's Family Farm at the Farmers' Market this Saturday!

Roasted Butternut Squash with Apple Cider Glaze
2-3 pounds local butternut squash
2 tablespoons canola oil
salt and freshly ground pepper
2 cups apple cider
1 tablespoon minced onion
1/2 teaspoon ground sage
Peel and seed the squash, and cut into 1/2 inch cubes. Toss with the oil, salt and pepper. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet. Roast at 350F for 30 minutes until tender, giving it a couple of stirs during the roasting time.
Meanwhile, combine the cider and onion in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, then boil gently about 20 minutes until reduced by two thirds. Remove from the heat and stir in sage. Pour cider mixture over the roasted squash, toss gently, serve and enjoy!
Makes 4-6 servings.
